One of the things I am very excited about that we have missed over the last couple of years is the Home Shows here in Arizona. Maricopa County Home Shows puts on 5-6 shows a year, and each one has its own flair and style. Open spaces, a huge variety of vendors to meet with and talk about home improvement projects, lots of great food, and fun for the whole family are just a few of the things you will experience when coming to a Maricopa Home Show. With the next one coming up on March 4th-6th, we know it can be a bit overwhelming coming for the first time, and we wanted to offer a few tips to make sure you have a great time! Plus, we will cover some of the main attractions of the newest Maricopa County Home Show.
How Should I Prepare?
One thing to remember, going to a Home Show can be similar to entering the Minotaur’s Labyrinth or Ikea, so mapping out where you want to go and what you would like to see before you get there is paramount. Each home show has a main attraction, one thing that is center to everything else. Going to these can be a lot of fun- they will have gardening and landscape scenes, or a tiny homes lot, or classes and seminars on things like handmade items and DIY projects! Planning which seminars to attend along with what projects are you planning to talk with professionals about will help you make sure you get the most out of you day or weekend. First, you will want to decide to which projects you are going to inquire about. I recommend making a list of your needs, wants, and desires and arrange them in order of importance. I have found that when I can take my list of projects and reference their map of vendors, I can then see where and who I want to talk with. Circle 2 or 3 companies you would like to talk with in each of the industries you are looking to achieve your home improvement dreams, and bring the map with you! Timing is key, and if you want to beat the crowd, Fridays and Sundays are the best days to attend. Check out here for a list of classes and times so you are able to plan when exactly you want to go.
With tens of thousands of people expecting to attend, this one little trick will help you swim through the current of people with ease!
What Should I Bring?
The most important thing you need to bring is a comfortable pair of walking shoes! You are going to be standing and walking a lot, and mostly on concrete. Along with those, a bottle of water. The Home Show is pretty standard in not allowing outside food or drinks, but bottled waters are totally fine. Planning on bringing the little ones? They will love it here too, just think about a stroller or some other carrying equipment for when they get tired. The last things you really need are your list of intentions to accomplish, and yourself! Companies will be handing out a bunch of merchandise and home show goodies, so if you forget a pen or a bag, not to worry! There are plenty all over! If you find yourself getting hungry, you can mosey over to the food court, located at the back of the stadium, and enjoy a large variety of BBQ, tacos, burgers, and more!
Anything Else I Should Remember?
Most importantly, just breathe and have fun! In my opinion, these are the 2 most important factors when it comes to large events and bigger crowds. The Maricopa County Home Show is a wonderfully put together event that wants to make sure that at the heart of the experience is family and fun. The vendors are highly professional and fun to talk with, about their companies and products, or otherwise; and seeing all of the new innovative home goods reminds me of the popular science kitchen commercials of the 40s! It can be a lot when it is your first time, so just remember to take it slow and have a good time while you explore all the magic of the March Maricopa County Home Show!
